GETAMA was founded in 1899 and specialized in seaweed mattresses in those days. However times change and today, besides spring mattresses and boxsprings, GETAMA also produces a large range of high quality furniture in contemporary design.
For almost 60 years, GETAMA has manufactured furniture designed by Hans J. Wegner, an internationally awarded Danish designer. This line of furniture is highly appreciated for its design, quality and durability and has become a collector's item to many people and is still a best-seller at GETAMA. In the 1990'es GETAMA launched new products by the internationally renowned architects, Nanna Ditzel (Joy and Mondial) and Bernt, architect MAA (a.o. stackable shell chairs).
In 2006 GETAMA presented a new furniture serie in steel and wood, designed by 2R Rasmussen & Rolff. The serie consists of dining tables and chairs in several versions, benches etc. Continuously this cooperation results in new and exciting products. Amongst our designers we also count the Danish architect Niels Jørgen Haugesen, who has designed an elegant coffee table in steel with a rubber coated table top for us.
GETAMA has a wide experience in home furnishing and in working on the contract market in Denmark and abroad.
In close cooperation with engineers and Bernt, architect MAA, GETAMA designs and manufacturers tailormade solutions for conference and concert halls, lecture halls and theatres. One of the latest projects is The Royal Danish Playhouse in Copenhagen. Besides this, GETAMA has supplied furniture and mattresses to institutions and organisations for many years - among others the Danish Army, Danish Embassies worldwide, dormitories, hotels, restaurants, etc. reference lists are available. GETAMA 's furniture is exhibited in the showroom in Copenhagen.
